Literature Text

"Alright, everything looks good. You can take a seat right over there." The eye doctor says, walking you over to the waiting room. "Thank you, Doctor Roderich." You reply before he leaves. Today is the day when you bought your first pair of contacts. You watch doctors passing by, noticing how many of them wear glasses as well. You take yours off and rub the smudged lens on your shirt. Alfred, one of your close friends, works here, and you are hoping to get him as your trainer.

"Hello. Are you _______?" A deep voice grumbles. You look up to see a tall, blond man standing in front of you. His stoic features stare at you in an intimidating way. "Y-yes..." You squeak out. Why is he so scary?!

"Excuse me, Berwald. This is the wrong patient." Roderich informs him.

"Mm." The man with the silver rimmed glasses walks away.

"Your doctor will be here in a few minutes."

You thank him once again and wait eagerly.

"Hey!" Someone yells and catches your attention. Dirty blond hair, bright blue eyes, and a wide grin. He wears a matching uniform like everyone else who works here.

"Alfred!" You practically shriek.

"Woah there, kiddo. I'm just training you to put contacts in!" He laughs, walking you over to another room.

"Do you know that Berwald guy? He's really scary..."

"Yeah, I guess he's pretty creepy. But he just moved here, so he doesn't know English that good."

Alfred shrugs and sits down in the chair across from you. Between both of you is a table holding a large mirror. "First, wash your hands. Don't forget your fingertips!"

Then he says, "Okay dude, here are your contacts." and hands you two small packets filled with solution. You claw at the packaging in an attempt to open it.

"It won't open."

"Come on, ________! Don't be a wimp. Try again!"

And sure enough... you finally rip it open.

"Now just scoop it out."

"Like this?"

"Yeah! You're doing good. Put it on your fingertip."

You balance the clear lens on your index finger like you're told.

"Okay, so what you have to do first is this: take your eyelids and hold them open. Don't blink! Use your pointer finger for the top, and your thumb for the bottom." Alfred explains as the demonstrates. You copy him, waiting for the next step.

He continues teaching, "Take your finger and... just touch your eye." He looks in the mirror while inserting the lens. Now one of his eyes are green. "I have to touch my eye?"

"Well... how else are you going to do it?"

Whenever you tried to put the contact in your eye, it fell off or you kept blinking your eye.

"I have an idea." He motions you over, "Come here."

"Put this contact in my eye."

"What?!"

"My friend Gil scratched my cornea when I let him do it, but that's okay!" He exclaims, giving you a fresh lens from a random packet. He leans his head back and stretches his eye open. You put the lens into his eye with a little hesitation... careful not to scratch his cornea.

"Alfie, it's in now." You laugh at him. "What's so funny?" Alfred looks into the mirror. In his left eye is a green contact, and his right eye has a violet one. "Dude! You could've told me they were different colors!!"

~ The end. ♥

LAME TITLE.

I... don't even know where this came from. It's not even romantic or anything... I just needed something to write.

Yeah, you can tell this was from the time I got my lenses. It took me an hour to get both of them in. And the girl who was training me let me put contacts in her eye. Hella cool!!

Oh yeah! And I included all the countries I could think of that wear glasses.

Thank you for reading! :D
